Step 1: Make a secure ponytail using the larger Rip Tie elastic
band.
Step 2 : Starting at the top, wrap the braided section around the ponytail evenly, creating loops about 1 inch apart.

Are Rip Tie Hair ties suitable for all hair types?
Absolutely! Our hair ties are made to be highly elastic and gentle, accommodating everything from fine to thick, straight to curly hair. They provide a secure hold without pulling or snagging, ensuring comfort for any hair type.
How do I know what style or length to choose?
Our Regular style suits ponytails measuring ~5-16 inches in length, while Extra Long is best for ponytails ~16-24 inches long. If your hair exceeds this length, we do have customers use multiple Rip Tie hair ties to create the length needed for their unique style. Keep in mind, our ties will still work even if you have a longer “tail” sticking out of your wrapped ponytail, since knots and tangles typically happen higher up in the ponytail.
The Extra Thick/Hold is the same length as our Regular style, but features a thicker 3mm elastic for the base, ideal for coarser, coily hair, and 3c-4c curls.
Please note, hair thickness may impact the fit of all ties. All of our product listings also include an infographic to help select sizing.
If your hair is shorter and you’re unable to use our Regular style, we plan to release a shorter length in 2025!
Can Rip Tie Hair ties withstand water and sweat?
What if they don't work for me?
There can be a small learning curve, but we do have some additional tips that can help! Start with dry hair, use a standard hair tie for extra hold, wrap tightly with continuous tension, wrap horizontally across the ponytail, and twist the ponytail in the opposite direction you are wrapping in. Despite these tips, we understand everyone's hair is different, which is why we offer a 30-day FREE return policy. Please email customercare@riptiehair.com within 30 days of delivery. How do I care for my Rip Tie Hair ties?
Rip Tie Hair ties are designed to be low-maintenance. Simply wash them with mild soap and water after use in saltwater or chlorine, or if they get dirty.
Are Rip Tie Hair ties latex-free?
Rip Tie Hair ties are handcrafted from natural rubber elastic with nylon thread wrapped over it for style and comfort. Because of this, they are not considered a latex-free product.
